Another good drawing session this week, for those that braved the terrible weather this Thursday and hope everyone managed to get home OK?
Here we are in January again and for those of us who have been coming to this group for some time, the weeks seem to fly by! Perhaps therefore at the beginning of a new year it is a good time to reflect on what we have produced in the last twelve months?
Is the coming year going to simply be producing more of the same, or is it perhaps time to evaluate where we are now and identify new avenues or directions we might explore?
After a year spent concentrating on drawing, I recently began this process. Looking back at some of my older work as well as my more recent efforts. I concluded that although my drawing had improved, the drawing style or technique had somewhat lost its way and had somewhere along the journey become quite coarse or heavy. Something needed to change?
Looking at some of my older work there were positives, which I seem to have lost! So the last two or three weeks has seen me begin to revisit an older way of working but attempting to bring a new twist to just how I apply it. So lets see where this goes over the next month or two? May be then I will need to rethink again!
What about you? Would now be a good time to evaluate where you are and perhaps explore new directions in the way you work?
Are you so certain that the way you are working cannot be improved and you are producing the best you can achieve, or is it time to stop and think and perhaps try something different?
