Brief Encounter by Tony Noble
I always look forward to our full day, first Saturday of the month sessions at Redbrick. We never know who to expect as we don't have a booking system, though we're always confident of drawing a good crowd. But today was a bit special. Around 8:40 the doorbell rang and I released the door expecting Sue, our model for the day, to walk in - she always arrives in good time. The door opened and in walked Joanne, a regular member of our Saturday crowd who we haven't seen for around 6 months. Unfortunately Joanne has not been well and has had to undergo a course of chemotherapy in order to fend off her illness. So it was fantastic to see Joanne again and to see that she's getting her life back on track, doing the things she loves to do. She only stayed for the morning, but produced a cracker of a drawing in her signature neo-classical style. Well done Joanne for winning this month's (virtual) gold medal, and we look forward to seeing you back at Redbrick again soon.
What more can I write after that? We all had a good day. The sun shone, which was a pain in the a*** for some of us in the afternoon, but in the grand scheme of things I think we have little to fret about. I wish I could predict the weather accurately, but then I'd be known as Tony the Weatherman, not Tony the ****** - you can fill in the blanks! Sue was as still and professional as ever, a great model. Have a look at the work and let us know what you think. See you on Th ursday for a session with the "best dressed man in Manchester", Ken. I'm hoping he will prove himself to be the best undressed man (hopefully the only undressed man) in Redbrick!
